All about wool longies

What are longies?

Longies are hand knit wool pants for children and babies. Mothers knit longies for their children before they could buy disposable diapers or rubber pants. They are worn during the day as cute pants or at night as snuggly pajamas.

Wool naturally regulates the body temperature making it an excellent choice for children. It does that by absorbing vapor from the skin and releasing it into the air. Wools ability to breathe further regulates body temperature by preventing sudden and extreme temperature changes. It is a natural choice for your baby’s layette.

Wool longies provide amazing leak protection - especially over night. Because wool wicks moisture away from the body it will help keep your child dry, even when the diaper leaks. You will be amazed how lanolized wool will keep your baby swaddled and warm while keeping the sheets dry until the morning.

Wool is surprisingly easy to care for. You will notice that even liquid spills cannot easily penetrate the fibers. That is because wool is water repellent to protect the sheep’s delicate skin. Wool can be wiped clean and does not need to be washed after every use. It is also nearly wrinkle resistant so it is always ready to be worn. You can find simple wool care instructions here.

Our daughter wears her longies almost every day in the winter. She has four pairs that we rotate through out the day and night. We love them because they are so cute and she loves them for their comfort. You would not believe how many strangers come up to us and comment on her longies!
