Getting a custom fit for your longies
It is simple to get a custom fit from your Llamajama longies all you have to do is hem them so that the length is tailored to fit your child. Doing this may allow you to get more than one season from your longies! Here are instructions on how to adjust the length of your longies to get a custom fit. It should take about ten minutes to complete each leg.
You will need the following tools:
Measuring tape
Yarn (any type of yarn will do but we prefer inexpensive fisherman’s wool)
Scissors
Tapestry needle
You will need to measure your child’s inseam with their diaper on to determine the finished length of your longies. Measure your child from the crotch of the diaper to the bottom of the ankle. Then measure your longies same way, from crotch to ankle making note of the difference between your child’s inseam and the longies.
Fold the longies inward to create the hem at the desired length. Using your threaded tapestry needle, start at the inseam and sew through the seam leaving about a 1-2 inch tail (do not tie the yarn as you will want to remove it later).
Attach the hem to the inside of the pants by whip stitching through one of the purl stitches on the underside of the leg. Take care not to stitch all the way through the pants or your hem stitches will show.
Continue sewing keeping your stitches about a half an inch apart. The tension of your stitches should be somewhat loose to make it easy to remove them later.
To insure an accurate fit you should check the measurements every few stitches.

When you have stitched the entire circumference of the leg, sew one stitch up the seam to meet the tail from the beginning. Loosely tie the two ends together and cut them leaving about a half an inch tail.

Follow the same steps to complete the second leg.
When you are ready to remove the hem gently pull the yarn out.
